Several hundred concerned citizens, First Nations and conservationists gathered recently in Burnaby to speak out against KinderMorgan's plans to pipe 700,000 barrels a day of Tar Sands bitumen to supertankers in Vancouver's harbour. The rally - co-organized by the Council of Canadians, Wilderness Committee, Tanker Free BC, Streams of Justice and StopThePave.org - was held in solidarity with mass protests in the United Sates over another proposed pipeline from Alberta to refineries on the Gulf Coast. Featuring Greenpeace co-founder Rex Weyler and 10-year old First Nations singer-songwriter Ta'Kaiya Blaney. (4 min)

Wake up people! If those hippies in the US stop the XL pipeline where do you think that oil should go?
That's right, through a pipeline to British Columbia - it is inevitable.
So take a pill, what is the worst that could happen? Little harmless oil spilled in BC waters. Probably make the oysters taste better. Then these econuts will realize they are making a big fuss about nothing and we can start some real drilling in the Queen Charlotte basin. Everyone gets rich. And there will still be tons of places in BC for the nature freaks to go and swat mosquitoes. Go have some tofu and chill out. Let the real experts in Ottawa get on with the business of government. Or you could always go to jail...

I am SO with you on this issue Lyn. I too can be counted on to do what is necessary to make fossil fuels less of a necessity and eventually a thing of the past! As you said, "we know it can be done". So let's get at it!!!

I want it known that I am ready and willing to go to battle over this 'oil business' Never have I felt so conned, lied to and treated like a mindless idiot as I have this year or so regarding the railroading through of this destructive plan which is destined to create grief for so many and fortunes for so few. So, count me in as a thorn in their side, a bump in their highway and a migraine in their memory banks.
I have lived my previous 65 years as a compliant individual, but nowadays I have learned that it's not only the squeaky wheel that get the oil; so does everybody else who doesn't want it! And that includes me!!!!
Put the money towards solar/electric/sustainable methods of energy to make our vehicles run. We know it can be done. It just takes backbone and some financial incentive to get it off the ground and into the driveways of the users.
